These tips will help to improve your skill for a perfect eyeshadow application!
The Bare Necessities in Eye Shadow Application
These two tips are absolute key to perfect eyeshadow application. Do not skip these steps!
Apply a Base Coat
A base coat or primer is as essential as the finished look. You can apply it with the rest of your face with your foundation primer. The loose powder works best, or you can apply your foundation to the eye area. It gives a nice even palette to work with, enhances the color, and holds the shade. It can also neutralize any imperfections, prevent creases, and much more. It is also useful in hot, humid weather to keep eyeshadow from fading or smudging.
Blending
Blending is the key to professional, flawless makeup. Invest in good tools and remember, when you are painting a masterpiece, remember to cover up the brush strokes!
The key to a better eye shadow application is to choose a palette that will complement the eye color
Blue Eyes
Typically, those with blue eyes are fair-skinned. Jewel-toned colours are most complimentary to people with blue eyes, such as purple, violet, taupe, gray, deep blue, and black. If you want to level up the look to a more dramatic on try funky colours such as fuchsia, turquoise, and silver. Don’t be afraid to experiment and discover new!

Green Eyes
People with green eyes can often get away with wearing all sorts of colored palettes. If you going for a dramatic look, consider pairing a deep plum eyeshadow with a charcoal one. Daytime? You might consider wearing a neutral shade (like a beige, peach, or tan) with a slightly darker shade (like chocolate brown) for a little “pop.”

Brown Eyes
If you have brown eyes, wear champagne, copper, brown, apricot, khaki, and beige. Funky colors include royal blue, tangerine, hand hot pink.

A few Extra tips for Eye Shadow Application
Dramatic Eyes
If you want dramatic eyes, take your eye shadow brush, dip it in water, and then into the shadow, then apply. It will give you a much deeper, dramatic color. Kick up your look by adding metallic colors, and make sure you have amazing winged eyeliner. Don’t forget the eyebrows! Eybrows can be dramatic too!

Eye Shadow Application for Younger Looking Eyes
Apply a lighter shadow in the inner corner of the eye to reflect and make your eyes look younger.
Eye Shadow Application to create a Larger Eye
If you want your eyes to appear larger, use a light color on the inner corner, and a darker shade in the middle of the eye area.
Dark Shadow
Apply your dark shadow only to the eyelids from the lash line to the crease in the eyelid. Apply your medium shadow from just below the eyelid crease to the brow bone.
Highlight
Highlight along the brow bone. Doing it this way will make your features stand out naturally and beautifully.
Practice is Key
Practice until you get the application of your eye shadow down to a science. When you get good, your makeup will look more natural and more polished.
Remember that while you’re practicing all these steps, you should take notice of what works best for you. Practice by yourself, or practice with a friend if you find it easier to ask someone else’s opinion.
